1:1 Balun (The Choke)
The most common balun. It does not change the impedance; it simply ensures that the RF current on the two sides of a balanced antenna is equal and prevents "common mode" current from flowing back down the outside of your coax.
- Best for: Centre-fed Dipoles, Inverted-Vs, and Yagi antennas that naturally have an impedance near 50 Ohm.
- Function: Prevents the coax shield from becoming part of the antenna, which reduces RFI (interference) in your shack.
Key Features/Specifications:
- Frequency Range: 1 to 30MHz
- Maximum Power: 400 Watts PEP (SSB), 80 Watts Data Modes
- Impedance: 50 Ohms
- Connection: SO239 for cable 2 x brass terminals for wire
