Collection: K9DP HAM RADIO GEAR AVAILABLE AT TECHOMAN NEW ZEALAND
Premium, Portable Filters. Whether purchased fully pre-assembled or as a hands-on DIY soldering kit, K9DP filters prioritize component integrity. They are constructed using premium C0G (NP0) capacitors (known for high temperature stability and low loss) and authentic Micrometals toroids. Weighing as little as 23 to 78 grams depending on the model, they provide field operators with a simple, inline solution to clean up their RF environment without sacrificing space or efficiency.
K9DP Ham Radio Gear (founded and operated by Dan, K9DP) specializes in high-quality, lightweight, ultra-portable RF filters engineered specifically for amateur radio operators. With a heavy focus on portable field operations like Parks on the Air (POTA), Summits on the Air (SOTA), and Field Day, K9DP gear is designed to maximize transceiver performance by eliminating external noise and interference without adding weight to a backpack.
Their filter line up focuses on two primary challenges faced by modern hams:
1. Broadcast Interference (BCI) Filters
Many modern portable high-frequency (HF) transceivers and receivers - especially ultra-compact QRP (low-power) units like the Xiegu X6100, G90 and other HF receivers and transceivers occasionally suffer from front-end receiver overload if operated near strong AM broadcast towers. The solution is K9DP’s BCI filters which are high-pass filters designed to heavily reject the standard AM broadcast band while letting the target shortwave/HF amateur bands pass through seamlessly. Options are available in both a QRP version (optimized for thumb-sized portability using BNC connectors) and a rugged 100W version (tested up to 100 watts on SSB, CW, and digital modes like FT8 using standard SO-239 UHF connectors).
2. Multi-Station Bandpass Filters
When operating in close proximity to other ham radio operators - such as during a multi-operator Field Day, a group POTA activation, or a club contest - transmitters on adjacent bands can easily bleed into and desensitize neighbouring receivers. The solution is a K9DP single-band bandpass filter to isolate specific ham bands (available from 80 meters down to 10 meters, as well as a dedicated 2-meter VHF version). They isolate the chosen band and aggressively reject signals from nearby stations transmitting on other frequencies. These are rated for up to 20 watts, making them ideal for standard portable field rigs.
